30 by 31

I was recently perusing the blog of one of my favorite local photographers, Susan. In it, she included a list of things she wanted to do before she reached her next birthday. Reading her list, it inspired me to complete a list of my own. And since I'm turning 30 (whoa!) this coming Sunday, I feel like Susan's post came at the perfect time.

So here it is - my list of 30 things to do before I turn 31...

01. Spend lots of quality time with my husband and daughter
02. Run/walk for a cause (5k maybe)
03. Commit to and complete my 365 project
04. Be more consistent with my blog (hoping that #3 will help this tremendously)
05. Get some of my photos printed on large format
06. Get better at forgiving AND forgetting
07. Get my next tattoo (it’s been almost ten years since the last)
08. Make a new friend
09. Pay off my student loan
10. Finish at least the first Harry Potter book (I got the series as a gift…last year)
11. Attend more girls’ nights
12. Learn to swim
13. Get into a yoga class
14. Start hiking
15. Get my daughter into her own room
16. Paint a picture
17. Clean out and organize our bedroom closet
18. Buy some real knives. I’m talking chef quality.
19. Go to at least two live shows.
20. Start using a cell phone again
21. Consolidate email addresses
22. Get braces
23. Get a professional massage
24. Start working out again
25. Create my own set of holiday card templates
26. Buy a vintage twin lens reflex camera
27. Visit the salton sea
28. Check out three or more museums (preferably ones I haven’t been to yet)
29. Leave on a jet plane…somewhere
30. Random act of kindness for a perfect stranger

So there's my list. I will update this post as I go, crossing things off as they get completed. Hopefully I will be able to get these done. And hey, anyone who wants to help me, let me know. In fact, if you decide to draw up your own list, please share it. I love stuff like this!

Vacation's over...

But before I get to photography updates, let me just do a quick recap of what I enjoyed about this holiday season. First let me also say that I hope you all thoroughly enjoyed your holidays as much as I did. I took time off, both from photography and the full-time job. It was so nice to just relax and spend time with family and friends. Had a great Christmas - especially loved watching my family open their gifts. Particularly my daughter. I wish I would've photographed her face when my husband unveiled the new play kitchen we bought for her. Her face lit up and she said, "oh my dod!" (oh my God, but she hasn't mastered her G's yet. lol). She loves that thing. We also enjoyed ringing in the new year by attending our good friends' pajama jammy jam. I was sooo glad not to have to stress over what to wear, spending too much money, waiting in long lines, et al. We just threw on our pajamas, headed to the party, and spent the night playing games, talking, dancing, and sipping champagne. It was a great time and a nice way to welcome the new year.

So that said, I guess it's time to back to work. Which is ok by me - I've missed my camera a bit. :)

Lots of big things happening for us this year. First, Sweetface Photography will be celebrating our one year anniversary this month! I recommend adding yourself to my mailing list or becoming a follower of this blog because there will be a one-day contest coming up verrry soon. ;)

Also, I will soon be launching my new website so keep your eye out for that. I'm very excited to get that off the ground. It's been a work in progress, but it's finally coming together.

Which brings me to this. In preparation of the launch of the website and in an effort to expand my portfolio I will be offering limited portfolio building appointments over the next month or so.
I’m looking for a few new models to build my portfolio, so I’m in need of the following…

Boys Age Groups:
Newborn (six weeks old or less), 6-9

Girls Age Groups:
Newborn (six weeks old or less), 3-5

Couples with teenage children

Models will receive:

A free mini-session, two complimentary 8x10 prints from your session, and 15% off additional prints.

Two spots are open for each category and age group! Model search ends January 31, 2009! If you’d like to book a session please email me at info [at]
